Selecting an Attorney

Home Selecting an Attorney Background Associations & Rating Location

As you go through the process of evaluating and selecting a family law attorney, you may wish to keep these qualities in mind.

Certification. Accreditation, peer recognition, and continued education are strong indications that an attorney has demonstrated skill in family law. Both the California State Bar and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers provide such services and recognition to family law attorneys. The California State Bar provides a legal specialization program that certifies family law attorneys, after they fulfill specific criteria such as a written examination and educational requirements. The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers provides qualified member attorneys the opportunity to improve the practices of family law as well as continued education.
Experience. An experienced family-law attorney often has the ability to forecast the likely outcome of your particular matter if the lawsuit proceeded to a contested trial. A recommendation can be made at an early stage which may help you avoid a contested trial-resulting in financial benefit for you and much less turmoil in bringing your matter to a successful conclusion.
Trust and Sensitivity. Working through family issues in a divorce can be a difficult emotional experience. An attorney who you trust and who is sensitive to these issues can help you get through the divorce process with as little difficulty as possible.

Mr. Bush welcomes your initial consultation to discuss your family law options and how he can help you with your family law needs.
